» Secured School Premise Helps in Student Retention

Ghaghra village comes under Ganaloyapanchayat of Murhu block. There is a middle school in Ghaghrawith enrolment of 84 children. LEADS started intervention in Ghaghra in 2018 and organized meetings and trainings of SMC members for enrollment, retention and quality education. School development plan was also prepared jointly by the SMC, Teachers, Community, PRIs and Balsansad members.

The school does not have a boundary wall although it is situated on the road side. The SMC president Birendar Pradhan had approached the DSE of Khunti for boundary wall construction but nothing happened after several followed up. During a visit of DC and BDO to Ganaloya, Birendar sensed an opportunity and shared the need of school boundary with DC. Acknowledging the need, the DC immediately instructed the BDO to look into the matter. Within a week, the Boundary wall construction was sanctioned from block through MGNREGA scheme and construction started thereafter.  The Teachers and the Balsansad members are now planning to develop “Nutrition Garden” in the school premises.
